Gwénola Carrère brings her illustrations to life. She was born in Switzerland to French parents and currently lives and works in Brussels. She studied illustration at St-Luc Brussels (graduated in 1999). Then she studied silkscreen printing in Academie de Boitsfort (2001-2003). Technically, it’s probably silkscreen printing that influenced her the most. The constraints of that technique actually helped her develop her style. Also Russian graphic art and illustration from 1920-1930 was a big influence on her work.  Other inspirations come from listening to music, which really comes across in her vibrant exciting images that have such beautiful expression and movement, as well as reading novels, poetry, comic strips and watching movies. Gwénola’s work is used in so many ways and is appreciated equally by adults and children although the style remains the same.  It makes an instant and memorable impact but is also full of hidden details and humour that can be seen with a closer look. She is truly unique and has worked with…
