Darling Clementine create a warming winter design for Fika Confectionery.

Darling Clementine have been commissioned by Gas As Interface Co.,Ltd. to illustrate the packaging for Japanese confectioner Metro Seika’s Fika Confectionery, combining traditional Nordic sweets with design.

Incorporating the theme “winter” into their design, the brief was otherwise open to Ingrid & Tonje to interpret how they wish, “‘Fika’ is a Swedish expression for having coffee and cake and a little break with somebody. We therefore went along the lines of a very typical ‘Oslo in the winter time’ scenario; when the buildings are covered in snow, people are ice skating in the city centre and the light is very blue.”

The project was a bit of. dream come true for Darling Clementine, as longtime admirers of the illustrated lineage of Fika, “The Fika box only comes twice a year, and well known illustrators that we admire such as Jamie Rewell, Leena Kisonen and Hanna Konola have done these before us. We always wanted to take on this project and were very happy to be given the opportunity.”
