Kate Forrester has continued her long running partnership with Norwegian brand Møllerens, illustrating their latest range of flours. Complete with intricate silhouettes and various colour-ways to signify different grain types, we caught up with Kate to learn more about the project.
Can you give me a rundown of the project, who commissioned it?
The project was commissioned by Tone at Branding agency GRID Norway who I have worked with for over a decade now.
Did you have to consider anything when creating them?
Mollerens are a big brand in Norway but with a traditional family ethos. I have been working with them on their packaging for a long time and they remain very involved in the process and characters within the illustrations.
This latest packaging was focussed on the relationships between the characters baking – different generations coming together to bake in a cosy family setting. The style is quite traditional, with paper-cut, silhouette illustrations, but at the same time, the client wanted a touch of magic – each scene is interwoven with the particular grain and an outdoors setting in the kitchen. The clothing was also pretty important – particularly on their Christmas one. I was sent a lot of reference for traditional Norwegian knitwear and hats!
