Laura Barrett is an illustrator based in South London, specialising in intricate silhouette illustrations and decorative monochrome patterns. With an emphasis on storytelling and an attention to detail, Laura’s illustrations are inspired by the darker side of folk & fairy tales, along with traditional Scherenschnitte (paper cutting).
With 14 years of industry experience, Laura has worked with a variety of international clients within the fields of publishing, packaging, animation and large-scale illustrations for graphic installations and exhibitions. She predominantly works in design and publishing; illustrating packaging, children’s picture books and book covers for all ages.
Laura works digitally from her home studio, drawing with a graphics tablet straight into Illustrator. Her clients include the BBC, John Lewis, Marks & Spencer, Cornish Orchards, Taschen and Penguin Random House.
