When the Whales Walked shortlisted for SLA award

We are very excited to announce that When the Whales Walked has been shortlisted for an SLA information book award!

The talented Hannah Bailey was commissioned by Quarto to illustrate the non-fiction children’s book When Whales Walked, written by Dougal Dixon. The first book in the series, followed by When We Became Humans, has been shortlisted for the School Library Assosiation Award in the Information Book department. Hannah is particularly excited about this achievement as it will mean she will get the opportunity to meet Dougal Dixon and Quarto for the first time, telling us “in this era of emails and what with me being in darkest Somerset, I haven’t met (or even spoken on the phone!!) to the publishers or the writer so it’s a lovely opportunity to meet them for the first time and celebrate our creation!”
