Chris Wormell Illustrates Cadbury’s 200 year Anniversary

Chris Wormell has been commissioned by VCCP to illustrate a vintage Cadbury’s poster to celebrate their adverts from the past 200 years. Made as part of a series, Chris’s work is currently being shown throughout the country, on billboards, at bus stops and across social media.

I used what is called the reduction printing method for this; using just one block and cutting more and more of it away as I printed the increasingly darker colours.

Chris Wormell’s inviting illustrations to get back into the pubs for Greene King.

Chris Wormell was commissioned to create a series of illustrations in his distinctive linocut style for pub chain Greene King, encouraging us all to get back in to the pubs. Working with advertising agency Engine Group, the illustrations are welcoming signs that play on the typical names of pubs.

The illustrations retain the warmth and human touch of traditional printmaking methods, essential to the campaign to get people back into cosy pubs.

“The guys at Engine came up with the ideas and pub name captions and a typographer created templates of the text for me to work with.

I made the images in my linocut style but worked digitally as it was clear from the start that there was likely to be lots of to and fro between designers and illustrator to get the things dead right.”

Rob Ball illustrates Game of Thrones for HBO

A dream commission for Game of Thrones fans, Rob Ball was commissioned by HBO in the US to illustrate ‘the official episode-by-episode guide to the most iconic deaths in the realm’.

This extensive body of stunning concepts and magnificent narrative were used to create the website http://beautifuldeath.com.

We think Rob has done these deaths proud.

“Working with Game of Thrones is daunting (it’s the biggest TV show in the world), and exhilarating – I produce one poster a week while the show runs.

The challenge is to come up with a fresh idea each week, alluding to the death scenes, rather than describing them.

I have a couple of days to work up a chosen route, then the image is posted online on a Friday. I then have the weekend to think lots of happy thoughts, then it’s back to murder, death and violence on Monday morning!”
