Lucia Gaggiotti has teamed up with STUDIOLUX to create a beautifully animated commercial for Ego-TE, an Italian food delivery app that focuses on bringing delicious, fresh and local produce directly to your door.

Ego-TE contacted STUDIOLUX, an Italian digital company specialising in photography and video-making, as they wanted to create an animation to show people how their brilliant food service app works. Andrea Sestito, one of the owners of STUDIOLUX, is an old friend from Lucia’s time studying in Italy, more than twenty years ago! “We never lost contact,” Lucia told us, “we hoped we could one day work together and mix our skills. Finally, this animation was the perfect combo!”

To create this exciting project, Lucia worked within a small team. “The team was comprised of 3 people with all of us working on the initial storyboard. I then worked on the keyframes and 2 people worked on the actual animation, editing and sound.” Her next step was to then creatively approach the project “In my creative approach, I tackle each brief by talking to the client in depth so as to understand exactly what is it they want from me, I then immerse myself in the ideas and let the creativity flow, that’s really when the best ideas come. It’s a common misconception that illustrators are only able to make drawings, and I love to show that I have many more tricks up my sleeve, which is why this project was very exciting for me!”

When asked if Lucia faced any challenges she admitted she had previously studied animation so it was more about refreshing her memory. “Also as a freelance artist, I work mainly alone so the challenge this time is to work closely with a team of 3 people that play different roles and interacting constantly. I’ve learned that adequate and timely communication is the best tool to help teamwork more effectively.”

Finally, we asked what Lucia’s favourite part of the project was… “Seeing my characters come to life in an animation has long been a dream of mine! To see them with a soul and personality is very touching. This experience has definitely opened a door in my career, and I have a feeling that this is the beginning of a new journey in my work!”

We can’t wait to see what’s next! (An animated TV Show perhaps…)
