Sarah McMenemy's new paintings capture an often overlooked energy.

Sarah McMenemy has created a new series of  gouache and collaged paintings, celebrating the landscapes that make up childhood holidays to the seaside.

The paintings focus on the north Norfolk area; Cromer, Wells-next-the-sea and other seaside towns, the kinds of places Sarah spent time in as a child,

“I have become a keen sea swimmer after my early training in the North Sea. Cromer has a great atmosphere and is full of character.”

That character is captured in full in these paintings; decisive brush strokes bring to mind rolling clouds and the winds that carry them in, while the colours keep the warmth of the beach sun in mind.

The paintings are part of a new exhibition at The Gallery Norfolk in Cromer, opening on the 28th March until Easter Monday, 13th April, be sure to check it out!
