Dalia Adillon balances optimism and sombreness in her illustrations for Samaritans Purse

Posted in: Editorial, Illustration

Dalia Adillon has illustrated a story for Samaritans Purse; about a family in Azerbaijan.

Keeping the colour palette muted was at the front of Dalia’s mind while working on this project, not wanting to disrespect the gravity of the story. After some research into the setting of Azerbaijan, she went through sketches and client feedback before choosing applying colour. Having worked with Samaritans purse before, Dalia understood straight away the kind of illustrations that were needed;

“The truth is that it was very easy to work with them!”

Each illustration feels as if the characters are welcoming you into their story, with the perfect balance of sombreness and optimism that stands out in Dalia’s characters.
