Debbie Powell

Debbie Powell is an illustrator specialising in handcrafted artwork. Predominantly working with linocuts and rubber stamps, she also incorporates a diverse mix of mediums into her imagery such as pencil, ink, paper cut and watercolour.
Debbie draws inspiration from the beautiful roughness of everyday life, the natural world, the intricate details of ancient artefacts and the wondrous imaginations of her children. She weaves these rich influences into her striking and distinctive illustrations.
Continually exploring new ways of realising her illustrations, Debbie has recently enjoyed applying her imagery onto handmade ceramic tiles. This process has allowed her to see how the natural texture of the clay and her hand drawn designs work together in harmony creating a unique and tactile object.
Debbie lives in Dorset with her young family. She graduated university in 2007 and joined the Artworks that same year.
Clients include Batsford Books, Bloomsbury, Carluccio’s, Japan Railways, Marks & Spencer, Penguin, Rizzoli NY, The Natural History Museum London, Walker Books, Waitrose and West Elm.
