Mindful Illustrations by Lucy Rose

Posted in: Artists, Design, Illustration, Jobs, Publishing

Using her signature style of soft, textured drawings, Lucy Rose has created a series of beautiful illustrations for Gill Hasson’s book, Mindfulness. She was commissioned by the National Trust for this project and was really excited to work on a project that had such an optimistic subject matter.

The initial stages of Lucy’s creative process involved sending rough sketches to the client, before finalising her ideas. The subject matter varied greatly from drawing to drawing, and Lucy found it creatively liberating to complete such a multitude of illustrations, as it allowed her to have the space to be spontaneous and explore different ideas. All of the illustrations were drawn by hand before being digitallyenhanced with the addition of colour and texture. Lucy’s choice of a bold, yet tonally soft, colour scheme has encapsulatedthe calm, reflective nature of the book, whilst also maintaining a positive ambience. She primarily focused on keeping her illustrations bright and playful as she wished to reflect the book’s positive message of living life to the full.

Her illustrations are stunning – we already feel more relaxed and mindful!
