Maren Schabhüser has contributed some illustrations to the new issue of the bi-annual “Be Green” special of the German magazine “Brigitte”. In her instantly recognisable paper craft style, Maren has created brightly coloured scenes to illustrate four different sections; Knowledge, Lend a hand, Dive down and Make it pretty.

Maren described working with “Brigitte” as straightforward; knowing exactly what they wanted in each of the images, as specific as,  “…[a popsicle somewhere near an island with palm trees]”. This meant that Maren could focus on the specifics of her paper constructions;

“For an object like the trophy there’s a lot of math to do. Every angle, side, length… has to be right so that the single pieces fit together perfectly.”

The process of cutting, folding and shaping sends Maren into a quiet, calm, meditative like state, which comes through in the satisfying compositions of her work, with soft lighting and limited colour’s inviting you into Maren’s delicate paper worlds.
