Lucy Davey illustrates her tenth cover for Sophie Kinsella!

Lucy Davey has illustrated her tenth(!) cover for another Sophie Kinsella’s novels “Love Your Life”. Happy to be working once again with designer Richard Ogle from Penguin Randomhouse, Lucy has created a cover which encapsulates the two main characters struggles to stay together while being pulled apart by differing lifestyles.

In keeping with the already strong series style, Lucy created characters that reflect those in the story, while keeping Richards suggestion of a strong blue or green background in mind! After sending her initial rough’s, a discussion opened up on what the characters should be wearing;

“I ended up doing quite a few versions with different outfits for the couple. They needed to look young and stylish but with the man in smarter business attire and the woman more of a free spirit. There was quite a lot of input from the author and her agent as well as the design team. In the end we managed to find a solution that everyone was happy with!”

After her stint as a “virtual stylist” for the characters, Lucy was pleased to be able to draw a dog… which is always fun! 

Love Your Life is out at the end of October.
