Kate Forrester's favourite illustration sees publication this week; Strong as Fire, Fierce as Flame.

We’ve asked our artists to send in some of their all-time favourite illustrations and projects they’ve worked on, and we are kicking off with Kate Forrester, whose favourite image is a book cover out next week in hardback. Perfect timing!

Kate illustrated the cover for ‘Strong as Fire, Fierce as Flame’, a YA novel set in the 1850’s India, telling the story of a young girls experience of the rebellion against British colonisation, after escaping from being burnt on her husband’s funeral pyre!

The cover references these details perfectly, with Kate’s mesmerising lettering enveloped by illustrations of birds, flowers and the titular fire. Kate was kind enough to share alternative colourways for the cover and some roughs, which give a glimpse into how the final cover’s illustrated elements were combined from her initial two different ideas.
