Katie Ponder draws inspiration from the regency era for her book cover illustrations for Gillian Hawser.

Katie Ponder has illustrated the covers for two books by author Gillian Hawser, set during the iconically beautiful regency era which Katie has perfectly captured in her designs.

Looking at textiles, architecture and wall paper designs of the era, Katie immersed herself in the intricate details  of the era as well as drawing inspiration from other sources, “It was a really fun commission to work on as it came through just after I had finished binge watching the Netflix series Bridgerton, so I was able to draw inspiration from that!”

Working closely with Gillian to gain some insight into the themes of the books, but was ultimately given creative freedom regarding the layout and look of the covers;

“It was an absolute joy to draw inspiration from the regency era – it was such a floaty, feminine and romantic period of time. “
