Dawn Cooper
Dawn’s detailed illustrations are alive with animals and plants, and can be found in non-fiction books for children, on the covers of gothic period novels, in magazines and on boxes of herbal tea, among other places.
Dawn divides her time between a quirky central Bristol studio with friends, and her cosy home studio/music room. She creates her work by hand drawing directly onto a tablet, and using Photoshop to combine her drawings into colourful densely layered images, overlayed with handmade textures.
Dawn enjoys pictures which tell stories and transport you to a feeling or a place. She finds inspiration from botanical drawings, weekend walks, bookshops, and sometimes even Disney films. Her love of image making extends to film photography, capturing moments and places which filter into her illustration work.
