Lucia Gaggiotti

Lucia Gaggiotti graduated from NABA (New Academy of Art) in Milan with a BA in graphic design specialising in illustration. After working in Ottodesign studio in Milan on music, fashion, packaging and publishing worldwide projects, she moved to London in 2005 to become a freelancer. She’s been working between London and her hometown of Ancona in Italy ever since. Lucia’s drawings are made from digital and mixed media which are retro-inspired and reminiscent of mid-century work for early Disney.
“I like to express joy, happiness and fun in my pictures. When I draw characters I try to catch their soul and their best expression of feelings as exist in my own life”.
With her background in graphic design, her work as an illustrator is exceptionally well put-together, drawing attention from clients all over the world. Lucia’s designs are an enchanting mix of Italian design and worldwide folk art.
“I’ve developed my style to serve all different kinds of clients and commissions but my favourites are children based projects.” In 2012 her Children’s book ”Lunchbox: the Story of my food” won ‘Book of the Year’ in the States as well of her “The Sneaky, Snacky Squirrel Game” won the Award Winning Cooperative Game for Kids. “ When I draw children’s illustrations I can step into the page and live in their world, it carries me into a magic and charmed space where I always used to go thanks to my imagination in my childhood. I’m proud to say, I’m still a kid in a big body”.
Her clients include Carluccio’s, Jamie Oliver, Pizza Express, Mark & Spencer, Rummo Pasta and Educational Insights.
