Laura Barrett is an illustrator based in South East London, specialising in intricate and decorative silhouette illustrations and monochrome patterns.
Since graduating from University of the Arts London and with over 10 years of industry experience, Laura has worked with a variety of international clients, particularly within the fields of publishing, packaging & surface design, animation and large-scale illustrations for graphic installations & exhibitions.
With an emphasis on storytelling and an attention to detail, Laura’as illustrations are inspired by the darker side of folk & fairy tales, along with traditional Scherenschnitte (paper cutting).
Laura works digitally from her home studio, drawing with a graphics tablet straight into Illustrator. She loves to work in striking black and white, though is just as comfortable using colour when a project calls for it.
Her clients include BBC, Brighton Festival, The Guardian, Hachette, Kings Road Publishing, Marchesa, Penguin Random House, Scholastic, Science Museum, Silent Pool Gin, Taschen, Ted Baker, Time Inc, Toni & Guy, The Wellcome Trust and Yardley London.
